Sam Possemiers, PhD

Chief Executive Officer

Sam is a founder and CEO of MRM Health and has over 15 years’ expertise in gut microbiology, host-microbiome interactions and immunity at both academic and industrial level. He is an experienced entrepreneur with an extensive commercial network and previously co-founded ProDigest, which he built and led as CEO for 12 years. He also co-founded MRM Technologies, a center of expertise for microbiome R&D, and previously acted as R&D Director of BioActor, a Netherlands-based health ingredient company. He holds a PhD in intestinal microbial ecology from Ghent University, in partnership with the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) in Paris, France.

Christiane Verhaegen

Chief Financial Officer

Christiane has over 25 years of management experience in finance, corporate finance (M&A, IPO), investor relations, strategic alliances, general operations in life sciences, investment and technology companies. She was CFO and CEO in an oncology therapeutics company where she managed the transition from a local research spin-off towards an international clinical stage company. Prior to the preparation of the incorporation of MRM Health, she acted as an executive board member and was responsible for the incorporation and set-up of all business, financial, administrative, fiscal and legal aspects of a cell therapy platform.

Nigel Horscroft, PhD

Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Nigel Horscroft has 20 years of drug discovery experience across a variety of therapeutic areas. He joined MRM Health from CureVac AG, Tubingen, Germany, where, as Area Head and Vice President - Molecular Therapy, he contributed to cutting edge therapies in liver disease, infectious disease, rare disease, oncology and ophthalmology. Prior to this, he served as Head of Research at PiKe Pharma in Switzerland. He has also worked at Pfizer in the UK and Valeant Pharmaceuticals in the US. Dr. Horscroft holds a DPhil in Biochemistry from Oxford University and was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of California.

Ludo Haazen, MD

Clinical Development

Ludo Haazen, MD, is a seasoned expert in international medicinal drug development with over 30 years of experience in leading international clinical research, pharmacovigilance activities and medical affairs. He has worked for large pharmaceutical companies such as Roche, Janssen Pharmaceutica and UCB, and more recently for leading biotech companies like TiGenix, Ablynx and Actobio, in various senior positions. He holds a Medical Degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and a post-graduate certificate in Statistics and Epidemiology. Ludo is also lecturer in Pharmaceutical Medicine at the Free University of Brussels (ULB) and review editor for the scientific journal Frontiers in Pharmacology.

Dimitri Dimitriou, FRSM, FRSC

Corporate & Business Development

Dimitri has over 30 years in the pharmaceuticals industry, is the co-founder and former CEO of a biotech company listed in London and Brussels and the founder of DyoDelta Biosciences, a London based company specialising in corporate transactions. He was formerly Senior Director of Worldwide Business Development at GlaxoSmithKline’s headquarters, he held a similar position for Europe at Bristol-Myers Squibb, he was Sales & Marketing Manager for Middle East & Asia, at Procter&Gamble and began his career at Novartis in Marketing. He holds a Master's in Pathology (Faculty of Medicine) from Imperial College Medical School in London and a BSc in Biochemistry from King’s College. He is a Fellow and a member of a number of medical and scientific associations.

Selin Bolca, PhD

Head of Development

Selin has a Master's in Bioscience Engineering and a PhD in Applied Biological Sciences (Ghent University), and was postdoctoral fellow at Unilever R&D Vlaardingen (the Netherlands) and Ghent University and Ghent University Hospital. After 10 years of multidiciplinary gut microbiome research, she joined the pharmaceutical industry, providing CMC-related services (cGMP). Passionate about drug development and gut microbiology, she joined MRM Health as Head of Development. Selin is Board member of the Pharmabiotic Research Institute (PRI, France).

Iris Pinheiro, PhD

Head or Translational Research Unit

Iris has extensive expertise in immunology and host-microbiome interactions and a broad scientific knowledge in biomedical research. She holds a PhD in Immunology from the Flemish Institute of Biotechnology (VIB) and was Marie Curie Fellow at the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA) in the Unit of Biology of Development and Reproduction in Paris and Undergraduate Research Fellow at CIBIO in Portugal. She holds also a Master's in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources.

Nicole Reichardt, PhD

Head of Microbiome Discovery Unit

Nicole has extensive experience in gut microbiome research in both academic and bio-pharmaceutical environment. She holds a PhD in gut microbiology and has postdoc experience at University of Glasgow, Institute of Food Research, Norwich and the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health, Aberdeen. After moving to bio-pharmaceutical industry she worked on targeted isolation, discovery and pre-clinical development of live biotherapeutics. Nicole joined MRM health in 2020 where she is Head of the Microbiome Discovery unit.

Marcel De Leeuw

Head of Bioinformatics & Data Science Unit

Marcel graduated from the Eindhoven Technical University and started his career as a signal processing engineer in industry. Subsequently, he became an omics and bioinformatics expert during his 21 years of work in the genomics service industry, heading bioinformatics, study management and operations. During these years, he supported many therapeutic and diagnostic development projects for customers from industry and academia. Passionate about the impact of the microbiome on human health, he joined MRM Health as Head of Bio-IT, supporting discovery and pre-clinical and clinical development.

Hannah Dewerchin, PhD

Head of Scientific Operations

Hannah has a Master's degree in Bioscience Engineering, and a PhD in Veterinary Medicine (Ghent University). She was a postdoctoral fellow in the Lab of Virology at Ghent University. After 9 years of research on virus-host interactions, she joined the IVD industry, working on development of new diagnostic assays, operational management, quality system development and company development in 2 small IVD companies. Passionate about process development and company building, she joined MRM Health in 2022 as Head of Scientific operations.
